The G-Cloud framework allows you to choose and purchase cloud services covering infrastructure, platform, software and specialist cloud services. The framework is for commodity based, pay-as-you go cloud services across four lots:
- Lot 1: Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
- Lot 2: Platforms as a Service (PaaS)
- Lot 3: Software as a Service (SaaS)
- Lot 4: Specialist Cloud Services
Lot 4 is for services outside of the three traditional ‘as a service’ (aaS) areas to support customers transitioning to cloud services.
The National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Definition of Cloud Computing can be found here: NIST definitions.
All services and details of the suppliers on this agreement are available via an online catalogue, called the Digital Marketplace.
To buy from this framework please follow the G-Cloud buying process as outlined in the buyers guide.

Capturing the benefits
Our remit is to work with both departments and organisations across the whole of the public sector to ensure maximum value is extracted from every commercial relationship and improve the quality of service delivery. Our services include contract management and supplier performance management to ensure that the Government acts as a single customer; freeing up individual organisations to focus their procurement expertise on what is unique to them.
In order to monitor the performance and capture the benefits of the G-Cloud framework(s), it is essential that customers complete the customer benefits record form every time that they enter into a call-off agreement. This form is located within the documents tab.
Thank you for your co-operation and assistance in completing this form and helping us capture the benefits.
Please note: we will not publish savings relating to specific procurements – it is purely to record and validate the benefits of using the G-Cloud framework agreement(s) in line with auditable savings for government and public sector organisations.
- Access to over 17,000 services
- Access to over 1,900 suppliers
- Scalability and elastic services
- Rapid deployment
- Much reduced costs and total cost of ownership
- No stranded investments
- Access to innovation
Please access the Digital Marketplace and follow the ‘Buyer’ instructions and Q&As. Further competitions are not permitted through the framework as the Digital Marketplace is designed to allow full visibility of service information.
Customers must follow the six-step buying process to carry out long-list and short-list searches but there is no facility for on-line purchases at this time:
Replacements: Cash Releasing Savings
When customers are replacing ‘in-house’ software, infrastructure and platforms with cloud based services, the whole cost of running these currently will be compared on a customer by customer basis against the new total costs. Savings will be shown by the reduction in licenses, support staff, equipment running and maintenance costs and capital outlay for infrastructure.
Demand Management Savings
In situations where the Cloud services being purchased are new (i.e the customer has not replaced an existing service provision with a cloud service) there is still an opportunity to claim demand management savings.
